Caridad Estrada wins 2024 Amentum Scholarship

The Amentum Scholarship program selects twelve students nationwide, awarding eleven (11) prizes and one (1) top prize to those who make influential contributions during their internship, demonstrate profound academic leadership, and show academic promise. CEE Graduate Student Caridad Estrada was awarded the top prize.

Cardad's worked over the 2024 summer as an Engineer V in the Decontamination and Decommissioning unit, where she introduced cutting-edge LiDAR technology, Monte Carlo simulations, and leveraged relationships with the Pacific Northwest National to facilitate the characterization of the site. Ultimately, Caridad was part of the team that removed one of the last nuclear reactors left at Oak Ridge National Laboratory from the Manhattan Project
