CEE Chair Elected as Fellow of AAAS

Michael CeliaProfessor Michael Celia, CEE Department Chair and Theodora Sheldon Pitney Professor of Environmental Studies, was recently elected to the rank of AAAS Fellow.   Each year the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) elects members whose "efforts on behalf of the advancement of science or its applications are scientifically or socially distinguished".   Professor Celia is being honored "for fundamental research contributions to subsurface hydrology and numerical methods in water resources, and for providing a model of academia at its very best".   Election to fellowship will be celebrated at the AAAS Fellows Forum on February 14, 2009, at the annual AAAS meeting in Chicago.
